The fame of Vuarnet eyewear dates back to 1957 when optician Roger Pouilloux, a skiing enthusiast, created the legendary "Skilynx" lens. This revolutionary lens was designed to protect skiers' eyes and ensure optimal vision of the terrain in all weather conditions. Two years later, Pouilloux presented Jean Vuarnet, a renowned skier, with the 02 frame equipped with Skilynx lenses.

The story took a major turn in 1960 at the Squaw Valley Olympics when Jean Vuarnet won the gold medal wearing these famous lenses. This success led to their partnership, giving rise to the Vuarnet brand. Recognition grew in 1969 when Romy Schneider and Alain Delon wore the 06 frame in the film "La piscine." The brand solidified its iconic status in 1970 with the glacier model, seen both in the city and on the slopes, and in 1998 with the model 03 propelled to global success by the film "The Big Lebowski" starring Jeff Bridges.

In 1984, Vuarnet became the official sponsor of the Los Angeles Olympics, marking its triumphant entry into the United States. In the '90s, the triumph of sunglasses allowed Vuarnet to diversify its production with a collection of ski clothing and sportswear, selling over 3 million t-shirts annually.

In 2015, the brand revisited the Glacier model by adding removable shells, a concept adopted by James Bond in "Spectre." Other personalities, including Vincent Cassel, became ambassadors for the brand. For its sixtieth anniversary in 2017, Vuarnet opened its first boutique in Paris, at the very location where Roger Pouilloux had launched his optical shop in 1957.

Recognized by the French government for its excellence and craftsmanship, Vuarnet is labeled EPV (Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant).
